Poke-Glitch Round 1: Leonardo VS Killingel

In the west side of Arcobaleno, Leonardo was walking along the destroyed city, keeping a look out for his opponent Killingel. The area was full of rubble and broken down buildings, giving the area an ominous feel at how a part of the city that once full of life was reduced to this ruined state. This also made him think that opponent could be anywhere amongst this destruction, allowing her to have the element of surprise. Hell, even her name has the word 'Killing' in it! But Leonardo tried to ignored these negative thoughts and keep his mind focused on winning the preliminary round.

Okay Leonardo, keep your mind focused on your opponent. The Smeargle thought to himself. You can't keep thinking about negative outcomes, otherwise you'll want to give up before you've even begun! Think about what you're doing this for! To protect the people you love! Mom, Dad, Chispa, Vance, Kei, Abisu, Menou, Kenna … Ivy, especially Ivy. Leo then thought back to when Ivy was stuck in a coma, looking so damaged and helpless, how he felt helpless from not being able to save her.

I can't bare to see her like that again. I need to prove my strength, to become stronger, to keep everyone safe… to keep Ivy safe… With that, Leonardo had the motivation he needed to push on. He didn't care how strong his opponent was, he kept his eyes open to look for her. From what he read about her from her file, she was a mechanic and didn't have any fighting experience, so this gave him a boost of confidence as well. But then, in the distance, he spotted a shadowy figure walking towards him. As the figure drew closer, he could see that the figure was his opponent Killingel.

"Oooooh Arceus~" He groaned to herself in annoyance and dread. "Why did I have to be dragged into this stupid tournament? I've never been in a battle in my life, so why did I have to be chosen?!" He then sighed. "Okay, it's no problem. All I have to do is rely on my rod, my boots and my goggles and I should be fine." As she was talking to herself, she saw that his opponent was standing ahead of him, making her freeze for a moment. That mask of his made him look very serious, making her worried that this guy would be a serious fighter that could do some real damage to her. But she sighed and walked up to him, just accepting her fate and hoping for the best.

"So, you're Leonardo?" Killngel asked the Smeargle, holding out her hand for a handshake, thinking that getting friendly with him may cause him to ease up on her. "Nice to meet you. I'm Killingnel, of course you probably know that from the roster." She said with a nervous laugh.

"Yeah, nice to meet you too." Leo said bluntly while shaking her hand. His mind was still focused on getting to the next round and no matter how friendly his opponent was, he couldn't let his guard down.

However, now that the two had met, a nearby camera was now closing in on them and recording live onto the giant screen that erected in the background of the destroyed city. "Alight, now that the two competitors have met, it's time for the match to commence!" Said the announcer through the giant screen, which could still be heard from where Leo and Killingel were. Hearing this, Killingel sighed and stepped away from her opponent. "I guess we might as well get this over with." She said reluctantly. Leo nodded as he shifted into his fighting position, grabbing his tail so that his hand met the accessory at the end like a hand would meet the guard of a sword. Killingel then reached into her satchel and pulling out a small cylinder from it. She also took this time to press a button on her goggles which turned on her AI helper. "Dex, do a quick scan for any weak points in his armour and in any technology he has on him." She said as Dex began an analysis

As the two readied for battle, the counter began on the giant screen. 3…2…1! A loud horn went off to signal the beginning of the match. Immediately, Leonardo turned on the accessory on his tail and quickly drew a stick-line sword into the air; he then grabbed the sword once he was done and dashed towards his opponent for an attack. In response, Killingel pressed a button on her cylinder as in expanded into a rod with two electric discharge discs on each side. As Leonardo made a swipe at her with his sword, Killingel quickly blocked the attack using her rod, relieved that she was able to defend herself in time. For the first part of their match, the two continue to clash weapons with each other, each of them trying to make some sort of impact while the other just defends themselves and rinse and repeat. That is until Killingel finally moved to the side to dodge his attack and pounded the end of her rod and Leo's chest. She wasn't sure if that was a weak point in his armour, but the force of it alone was enough to push him down to the ground.

"Analysis complete." Dex stated. "His armour does not protect his back from analysing the design, and the main technology that he uses is the Tablet Pen accessory that he has attached to his tail. It can be disabled if the point, which is connected to the interior hardware, were to be hit by a surge of energy." With this new information, Killingel grinned at this new advantage and Leo was now more worried. Now that she knew the flaws in his armour and weapons, he really had to win this before she could take advantage of this knowledge. So he quickly got up on his feet and charged at her with his sword, but all Killingel did was turn on her Hover Boots and quickly flew around him to reach his backside. But before she could make a move on him, Leo used his sword to block her rod as in came in on him. He tried to keep her at bay for as long as he could until he launched a front kick at her stomach. But she quickly dodged the attack while moving her rod out of the way and moving to his side, which causes Leo to momentarily loose his balance; but Killingel still used full advantage of the opportunity as she grabbed Leo's tail and used her rod to electrocuted the point, causing the accessory to crash. He turned to see he was too late to stop her from doing so. To pour salt in the wound, his sword then disappeared out of his hands due to the one minute time limit that each of his drawings have was up.

Now having the upper hand, Killingel lunged her rod at Leo's back. But Leo was not willing to let this happen as he side stepped out of the way of the rod and then stepped towards her, ramming her elbow into her gut. She coughed from the force of the hit as she let go of his tail to hold her gut, giving Leo the chance to make a run for it and hide now that he was without his weapons.

"Dammit!" Killingel yelled out, chasing after him as she had become more aggressive thanks to that last hit. "Get back here!" Leonardo then picked up the pace of his running to try and lose her and turned the corner of a building, but by the time she made the same turn, he was out of sight from her, making her frustrated as she went looking for him.

Leonardo was hiding inside a nearby roofless building, sitting and panting softly in a shadowy corner to avoid his shadow being cast in the sunlight and giving himself away. Inside the building, there was nothing rubble that made a pile large enough to reach the bottom of a concave hole in the roof, meaning he couldn't make a makeshift weapon out of anything there. He then took this time to assess the situation and formulate a plan. Oh Arceus, what am I gonna do? He thought to himself. My tail end is ruined so I can't draw another weapon anymore, and Killingel girl now knows my weak points thanks to those goggles of hers. And on top of that, she also has that rod of hers and those boots, so I can't go bare fists unless I want to be an open target for electrocution! I don't want to give up, but how am I gonna beat her?!  In his frustration, he found the heat coming from his broken tail accessory to become annoying as he took it off to reveal his regular tail. At the sight of this, he begun to look around the area and had formulated an idea that just might work.

The irritated Bronzong was now flying around the destroyed streets with her hover boots, using her specs to try and located. Then, a beep went off on her goggles. "Target located." Dex said as Killingel turned to see Leonardo, standing heroically at the bottom of the same concave hole in the wall and holding onto his now bare tail with blue paint dripping down from the tip, waiting for her.  Now in her sights, Killingel rocketed towards the Smeargle, ready to hit him with her rod. Then when she was close enough, Leo jumped up towards her and then swished his tail at her goggles, covering them with paint and leaving her blind. Leonardo then crotched down as he landed and looked up to see if his plan worked

"Ah! Dammit, I can't see!" She cried out as she continued to rocket forward, but unbeknownst to her, a wall was right in the way. And Dex couldn't tell that the wall was in the way as the wall needed to be visible through the lens in order for the computer to respond to it, and that couldn't be done with paint covering them. So just as Leo planned, Killingel crashed into the wall and fell down into a pile of rubble, the hard hit causing her to groan from the feel excruciating pain coursing through her body and unable to handle anymore of this fight.

"Okay! I give… you win…" She let out as she continued to groan and just laid there in that pile of rubble until she felt well enough to get up.

Hearing this, the giant screen let out the same loud buzz as before, making Leo turn to see the screen. "We have a winner!" exclaimed the announcer. "The winner of this match is the Chevalier from Lumiere, Leonardo!" Then the screen showed a video of Leonardo with his name at the time and the word "Winner" underneath. Leo couldn't believe it, he actually one this fight. He was able to defeat his opponent without using any technology. He couldn't help but laugh to himself about how magnificent the feeling of victory was. He couldn't wait to come home to Ivy and come back a winner. But then he thought that he couldn't go yet, as he needed to see how his opponent was doing. He then ran inside the building and up to Killingel, still laying in the pile of rubble.

"Hey, are you alright?" He asked, concerned that she wasn't hurt too badly.

"Yeah… I'm fine." She responded, taking off her goggles and looking over to him. "I have to admit, I really didn't expect you to use paint to beat me." The two of them let out a chuckle at that, as it was a funny thing to be defeated by. She then sighed and looked up at the sky, feeling a little low on herself for losing the first round. "It's kind of funny. I didn't even want to be in this tournament in the first place. But now I feel pretty weak for not being able to make it past the preliminaries. All this tech and I couldn't even see a wall."

"Hey, don't think so lowly of yourself." he said to try and cheer her up. "You were really good at defending yourself and you did get the best of me more than I did with you, so don't worry about being weak, otherwise you can't see yourself getting stronger in the future." He then smiled underneath his mask, and even if she couldn't see it, she could see his eyes closing in a smiling manner. What he said made Killingel look back at him in surprise at how he was defend her, even though he was her opponent, making her smile back at him.

"Yeah… you're right." She said, really taking a shine to this guy. She then sat up, but she still felt a lot of pain from doing so as she let out a loud groan to express the feeling. "Although, I'm not gonna get any stronger while I'm like this."

With her groans of pain making him concerned, Leonardo nodded in agreement. "Right, we should get you to the hospital." He said as he crouched down to her level and put her arm around her shoulder. "Alright, now take it easy." He then helped the sore Bronzong up to her feet, with her trying to ignore her groans of pain as Leo then let her go and went over to his hiding place to pick up his broken Pen-Tail accessory and  go back.

"Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you this in battle, but that drawing thing you did with that tail thing there was so cool!" She said as she watch whim pick it up and walk back to her.

"Yeah," He said as he put her arm around her again and slowly walked her to the door so that he didn't cause her any pain. "But I can't do that 'drawing thing' now that you broke it."

"Ehehe, yeah, sorry bout that." She said, feeling a little bad about breaking it. "But I'll tell you what, I'll see if I can repair it for you, free of charge. Consider it a reward for beating me, Leonardo."

"Please," He said. "Call me Leo."

"Leo…" Killingel repeated with a smile. "And you can call me Kili, it's what all my friends call me."
